ORGANIZERS

Distressed Patriots for America's founders are citizens concerned about the direction many elected officials are taking the oldest constitutional republic and capitalistic system in the world. Washington's proliferate spending, irresponsible and growing national debt and liberal taxation plans stifle capitalism, America's greatest economic stimulus and strength. Capitalism in hand with fair taxation creates employment, prosperity and the tax revenues that fuel government and fund public programs for all Americans. In the private sector, profitability pays the dividends and interest that attract investment capital that funds businesses, investment in technology & innovation, and encourages the creation of new companies - many by small entrepreneurs - that create jobs. Profits support charitable and non-profit organizations that help Americans in ways too numerous to mention.

Spread the wealth ideology is nothing less than socialism cloaked in the liberal rhetoric of "Good for America," and liberal promises to refund taxes to those who pay no taxes is out-and-out vote buying. To that we unapologetically say, "Bull!"

We believe...

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government." - Thomas Jefferson

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much... No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!" - Ronald Reagan

CHRIS JANELLI - Founder & Chief Distressed Patriot

Chris Janelli has a background that has embraced both corporate and entrepreneurial endeavors in the U.S. and Southeast Asia.

After graduating from Lake Forest College in 1974 with a BA in Political Science, Chris joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in Manhattan. In 1979, Chris chose to pursue independent entrepreneurial ventures that included publishing with Random House the first aerial photography book of Manhattan, John Gambling Presents George Mead's New York, publishing wildlife art and eventually developing marketing programs and products for some of the largest cosmetic, fragrance and spirits companies in America.

In 1989, he joined Chase Manhattan Corporation N.A. (New York) to help develop a global investment banking operation for the Private Bank. He moved to Hong Kong in 1990 to manage the Asian business, where he was also Vice President-Senior Marketing Officer for Chase Asia's Corporate Finance Group.

Over the past ten years, Chris has been involved with several start-up businesses, both as a consultant and principal. These ventures have included satellite and wireless communications, and preventive health & wellness.

Chris has had a lifelong interest in early American history and life, and lives in a restored 1780 colonial in a remote area of the Northwest Highlands of CT, which the Nature Conservancy describes as "One of the Last Great Places." His Connecticut town is also known as "The Arsenal of the Revolution" because of the colonial iron industry that flourished. In 1762, Ethan Allen erected Connecticut’s first blast furnace in Salisbury, which cast cannon, ball and shot. These munitions were used by the Revolutionary forces on land and sea, including the USS Constitution; the anchor for the Constitution was also cast in Salisbury.

Chris is a registered lobbyist with the State of Connecticut Office of State Ethics.
