Howdy Folks,
This has to be a short rant tonight as I have been told by the boss that I cannot be going to bed at the time I am supposed to be getting up and taking her to Idaho Falls. Apparently we are missing something for Thanksgiving at home and have to drive 90 miles to our nearest town for whatever it is were missing. Me….. I am not arguing as I get to go to the Sonic for a Coney Island Chili Dog.
It won't stop me from a couple of more quotes that seem apropos as well. I was accumulating them for a once a week expose, but they were too good:
"When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both." - James Dale Davidson, National Taxpayers Union
"A Liberal is a person who will give away everything he doesn't own." - Unknown
"The more corrupt the state, the more it legislates." - Tacitus
It is this last one that makes my head explode. Today we have two things going on that are doing just that.
First is about the decision on the troops in Afghanistan. I really do not want to rehash why we are there or whether we should be there. However I do want to address broken promises and why the Great Ditherer is taking longer to make the decision than to find a WH dog, which was the last great deliberation he had to make.
One does not play politics with people's lives. One acts like a leader particularly when he is the one that owns this decision. He ran for President on getting out of Iraq; a war we were winning at least at the time. This seems to be working and he seems to be listening as we are withdrawing. It was stupid to set time tables he couldn't meet, but nevertheless we seem to be getting the job done with some dignity. For that to have happened he must have listened to someone. However his big focus has always been on Afghanistan. He appointed his own general to get the job done there, and this seems to be the same general that has all the qualifications to get the job done …if supported. The general makes a recommendation for an additional 40,000 troops last August (90 days ago) stating how critical it was to make this decision and have the additional troops on the ground within a year, or "the war will be lost.” Now we know that the Commander in Chief is no Lincoln, and experience in community organizing does not extend to fighting a war, so who is he listening to now?
His big announcement yesterday was to tell us he is going to make a decision, and we are all going to like it next Tuesday. Huh? Why didn't we get the news today? Why do we now hear via the AP that he is talking about 32,000-35,000 troops deployed over the next two years so he can adopt a middle of the road strategy? He certainly isn't listening to any military men or women. Folks, I am not a general, but this will get people killed. This isn't support and since this Commander in Chief will not support or take advice from those that know about such things, being merely a left wing tool, we need to push to get our troops home.
To make matters worse, we find out today that Congressman David Obey of Wisconsin is preparing a bill to finance the war by taxing the rich 1-5%. He says that funding of the war effort is detracting from the other programs that need to get done, like health care and climate change. So now it is another redistribution of wealth issue as if the reason our troops are there was not at the behest of all the American people, just the rich. I thought that Afghanistan was the root of terrorism training, home to Al Qaeda and there was a vow to kill Osama Ben. I thought the deal was to fight the terrorist on someone else's soil rather than our own. So now we are going to tax the rich? How much more does this administration think the rich have to support anything? Remember what Celente said about a tax revolt; it is coming.
Lastly, the sick joke of the day is that 3 Navy Seals secretly apprehended Ahmed Hashim Abed, the number one terrorist in Iraq and alleged mastermind behind the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in 2004. He hanged two of the bodies off a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph. For the brave efforts of the Seals, they were charged with assault and now facing criminal charges because Ahmed told investigators he was punched by his captors and sported a bloody lip to prove it. The three enlisted heroes, rather than getting a medal, were then charged with dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement and assault resulting in a non judicial punishment. This means they probably would have received a reprimand, busted down in rate, maybe a fine. But they rightly refused. They requested a trial by court martial, which is far more public. They are being detained in a brig in Baghdad. They should have killed the guy. Now what do you think the next guys that go out are going to do? What is with this Justice Department that would put on trial terrorist, oops they don't call them terrorist, criminals in NY City for what will be the bigger circus than Barnum and Bailey.
The second breaking news of the day is regarding the hacking of the emails of the Climate Research Unit at the University of Esat Anglia in the UK. Courtesy of the UK Examiner the head line really says it all “Lazy Science of Climate Change in Death Throes.”
“It means the Kyoto Climate Protocols that nations agreed to on December 11, 1997 and which entered into force on February 16 2005, and all subsequent agreements based on “global warming” have no validity, scientifically or as the basis for public action by any nation, state, province, city or town. It means that Al Gore’s pusillanimous “documentary” is a fraud along with just about every other statement uttered by any scientist, academician, or politician claiming that something, anything, should be done to avoid global warming.”
“Now, it should also be noted that Real Climate (the British online science website) emphatically states that there is “confusion” with newspaper and blog reports that CRU “…has absolutely nothing to do with the Hadley Centre which is a completely separate institution.” This apparently matters since Hadley happens to be the U.K.’s foremost climate research centre that provides the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) with their official scientific data on Anthropogenic Global Warming."
The hacker/whistle blowers downloaded 62 megs worth of incriminating evidence between the Climate Change "scientists", some 72 documents and 1079 emails in all. They then published them on line. Apparently the Washington Post and NYT have verified that they exist. However have you seen or heard one line of news on the subject on any news channel except on Fox News; sort of like the Van Jones, Anita Dunn, SEIU, ACORN stories.
The proponents of Global Warming are crying foul complaining about the illegal act of hacking; sort of like ACORN complaining about the illegal tapes of them supporting illegal prostitution with underage illegal immigrant girls while the facts were the facts.
I am sure we will hear much more about this is the coming weeks. It seems that the scientist are busy shredding documents because of FOIA request (freedom of information act), disclosing the falsehoods and tricks used to manipulate data, etc. Maybe there is enough there to kill this off for awhile. All we can do is hope.
Have a good day,
Your humble writer
